(Runtime: 11 min.) The information contained in this video was taken from the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, 1989 revised OSHA booklet 2098. Material contained in this program is not considered a substitute for any provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 or for any standards issued by OSHA. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA is authorized to conduct workplace inspections to determine whether not employers are complying with standards issued by the Agency for safe and healthful workplaces. OSHA also enforces Section 5 A, 1 of the act, known as the General Duty Clause, which requires that “every working woman and man must be provided with a safe and healthful workplace.”
